SLOtheStigma Inspires Student Documentary

We are very proud the work we’ve done on Transitions Mental Health Association’s (TMHA) SLOtheStigma campaign. And thanks to the folks at TMHA, the campaign continues to impact lives on a daily basis.

That’s why were so excited to share with you the creation of a new, independent documentary created by college students, for college students. This film, inspired by SLOtheStigma and a result of the hard efforts of Cal Poly Week of Welcome leaders – Week of Welcome is Cal Poly’s freshman orientation program – sheds much-needed light on mental health in the collegiate environment.

It has long been known that college students throughout the country suffer from various forms of mental illness, stimulated by factors unique to this age group and social demographic. This documentary speaks directly to those people and the challenges they face, offering support in much the same way SLOtheStigma provides help to the community in general.

The documentary will be screened Thursday, September 8, from 3pm to 5pm in Spanos Theater at Cal Poly State University. In the recent words of TMHA, “Please come out to view the film and support the extraordinary work that these students have put together and please pass along this opportunity to anyone who you think might be interested.”
