The Happiest 5k on the Planet!

What do you get when you take a regular ol’ 5k, simmer out the need for speed, and spice it up with an explosion of color? Why, The Color Run of course! For every 1k completed, you are rewarded with a run through a designated “color zone” where volunteers and staff shower you in powdery color. The more kilometers you complete, the more colors you acquire. By the time you reach the finish line color free-for-all, you’re a lovely hue of rainbow-y goodness from head to toe. The only rules? You must wear a white t-shirt and promise to have tons of colorful fun!

My friends and I were lucky enough to get into the morning run at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park (no easy feat when it sold out mere hours after registration opened up). The night before we held a tutu-making session with the help of tutorials on Pinterest. You know, just to be sure we were extra fabulous. As you can see, we had an absolute blast…and so did the thousands of other Color Runners!

Described as “The Happiest 5k on the Planet,” it’s easy to see why people of all shapes and sizes come out to run, walk, jog, and roll through this amazingly smile-inducing event. If you are hesitant because hey, running just isn’t your thing, don’t worry! I’m no runner myself and even I was left thinking, “Aww, it’s over already?” You can make it a Color Walk, a Color Skip, a Color Leisurely Jaunt, or even a combination of all three. I had so much fun, I can’t wait until next year!

Stay Fabulous,

Meg
