Okay, I’ll be honest here, my credentials as a film critic are a bit thin. Still, it’s never kept me from appreciating the medium as a powerful storytelling and marketing tool. While as a writer I’m always hesitant to throw the written word under the proverbial bus, I can’t help but acknowledge the occasional truth behind the old adage, “a picture is worth a thousand words.”
Apple has long been a brand to recognize this, producing wildly effective video spots. Still, many of these spots have relied on a healthy amount of traditional (albeit cleverly crafted) narrative. However, with their latest commercials promoting the Apple Watch, Apple shows us that sometimes the story that needs to be told really just needs to be shown. So, sit back, relax, and watch and learn.
